It’s possible to listen to the stories of Udmurt writers in audio format. It was reported by the press office of the House of Friendship of Peoples.
Polina Kulikova became the author of the project “Kabylna”. At school, she mastered the curriculum on audiobooks, but there were no books in the Udmurt language in audio format. This is how the “Kabylna” plant of Udmurt audio stories was invented.
Why is a factory? Because this is a place where everything is interconnected, and the work of one, say, a workshop, depends on another. I think we have the same. If there are no writers, there will be nothing to read, if there is nothing to read, there will be neither listeners nor readers
As a basis, the project team took the Udmurt word “kabyltyny”, which in Russian means “balabolit” or “talk”. The project's logo was created by an aspiring designer Nikolay Pronev. It depicts an elderly man in headphones symbolizing Udmurt literature, which draws an analogy with a great life experience and following current trends.
We chose the stories for the voice acting, because there are a huge amount of them in the Udmurt language. But there are problems with copyright. We cannot do voice acting without the permission of the author. Therefore, we are looking for those authors who are ready to provide us with them free of charge
According to Polina, it is possible that in the future they will start dubbing works from the school curriculum.
Now in the group of the project you can listen to stories by three contemporary authors – Grigory Golovkin, Nikolai Mikhailov and Maria Vekshina. In the future, not only professional writers, but also amateur authors are planning to voice. Anyone can also become a “reader”. The main condition is to be able to read aloud expressively and beautifully in the Udmurt language.
