The Republican civil action “News from the front” of the National library of Udmurtia won the All-Russian competition of library projects “The Great War – the Great Victory. Library as a place of memory” in the nomination “Works are made in the central libraries of the subjects of Russia”. It was announced by the minister of culture of the republic Vladimir Soloviev in the social network “VKontakte”.
The action “News from the front” has been implemented by the National library of Udmurtia since February 2016. Its goal is to provide residents of the republic with the opportunity to restore and preserve family relics free of charge: letters from relatives and friends from the front, as well as other memorable documents from the period of the Great Patriotic War.
In the competition of library projects “The Great War – the Great Victory. Library as a place of memory” was attended by 924 libraries from 74 regions of the country. 13 applications were received from Udmurtia. 25 Russian libraries became the finalists of the competition. An online roundtable was held for the finalists on November 26, where the winners were announced.
