Adapted multi-format series “Geography of memory. Udmurtia”, issued by the National library of the republic, was awarded the II degree diploma of the XI All-Russian competition among publications for the blind and visually impaired people “And the saved world remembers ...”. It was reported by the press office of the head and government of the region.
The publication includes a collection in large-type and relief-dotted formats “To Remember ...” in four parts with the supplement “Awards of the Great Victory” and the disc “News from the Front”. The adaptive series acquaints readers with the biographies and exploits of 99 natives of Udmurtia – participants of the Great Patriotic War.
The pictures in the material, as well as the text, were presented in relief graphics, as well as illustrations in watercolor technique.
In 2020, the results of the competition were summed up in eight nominations. Series “Geography of memory. Udmurtia” was noted as “The best publication dedicated to the military glory of the Fatherland and the feat of the multinational Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945”.
The purpose of the show was to intensify the publishing activities of special libraries for the blind and visually impaired in Russia on patriotic and spiritual and moral education of readers. In addition, the idea of the competition is to draw the attention of residents of the country with visual problems to outstanding cultural works dedicated to the military glory of the Fatherland.
The organizers of the competition are the Ministry of Culture of Russia, the Russian State Library for the Blind, and the Russian Committee of the UNESCO information for all program.
