The sculptor from Izhevsk Maria Solovatova paired with the artist from the Moscow region won second place in the creative competition of ice sculptures "Polar Rhapsody". She told about that to the journalist of the new agency “Udmurtia”.
Emotions were a lot. We didn’t expect to perform so successfully. The experience of Leo affected, he is a Bogorodsky carver, a winner of international park sculpture festivals
The girl, together with the sculptor Lev Bryukhanov in seven days, made the figure “Crying for the Gorgon”. The idea came to her after reading the myths and legends of the jellyfish Gorgon. The central place in the composition is occupied by the silhouette of the already decapitated jellyfish; its wings are thrown back. There are also the Gorgon sisters, mourning the death of their relative; in the amphitheater in the background you can see the audience.
There is a version that people turned to stone not from the sight of a jellyfish, but from its beauty
Maria and Leo, like other participants, received gifts from the organizers, as well as a cash prize of 140 thousand rubles. The first place was taken by the team of Yamal artists with the sculpture “How the tragedy begins”. The third place was won by the participant from Finland. In total, nine teams from Belarus, Finland, Iran and Russia came to compete in the “ice art”.
We remind you that construction of the ice town in Central Square continues in Izhevsk.
